Set at the heart of Umana Bali, Commune is the resort’s all-day restaurant, open from breakfast right through to dinner. As the name suggests, it’s all about community, with ethical, locally sourced ingredients and a menu that showcases regional produce alongside local craftsmanship.

The centrepiece is the show kitchen, where a spit-roast grill turns out babi guling, Bali’s much-loved suckling pig. The menu leans Southeast Asian with international dishes alongside, and the resort sources more than 80% of its produce from local farms.

Open daily from 6.30am to 10pm, Commune is also home to Umana’s Indonesian rijsttafel, a generous spread of dishes served for lunch or dinner that’s best enjoyed with a full table. The dining pavilion doubles as the venue for the resort’s Balinese cooking class, which you can also do at a local family home instead.

Whether you’re after a slow breakfast, a family lunch or a proper Indonesian feast, Commune is where Umana Bali feels most like home. Come hungry, particularly if the babi guling is on.
