6 of the Best Pizza in Canggu

pizza in canggu, bali pizza, bali restaurant

Canggu has more pizza ovens than parking spaces, which is saying something. Every few months a new spot for pizza in Canggu opens, usually claiming to be the most authentic Italian pizza in Bali. In 2026, we went to see which ones actually live up to it.

So when people ask us where to find the best pizza in Canggu, our answer is Luigis Hot Pizza, and it has been for a while. But the best pizza also depends on what you want from your evening. Maybe it’s a thin Italian base, a proper sourdough crust, something your vegan friend can eat, or two pizzas for the price of one on a Tuesday.

These are the six we would send a friend to. Luigis Hot Pizza, La Baracca, Pizza Fabbrica, Milk & Madu, Barō and Anita’s each made the list for a different reason, and for every one we tell you what to order and when to go.

Quick Picks: The Best Pizza in Canggu

Luigis Hot Pizza, with 24-hour dough fired in Acunto ovens from Naples by a Gambero Rosso-awarded pizzaiolo.

La Baracca, home-cooked pizza at fair prices in a rustic room, with a full vegan menu and gluten-free options.

Pizza Fabbrica, a thin, crispy and light base made to a recipe straight from Italy, topped with Italian tomato sauce and imported cheese.

Milk & Madu, Neapolitan-style crust with fresh, veg-heavy toppings and 2-for-1 pizzas every Tuesday and Sunday from 4pm.

Barō, a sourdough bakery and brunch spot in Pererenan, serving slow-fermented sourdough pizza with creative toppings.

Anita's, started by an Italian chef and his Javanese wife, with the original pizza alongside Javanese-inspired toppings, plus a pool and garden.

Luigi’s Hot Pizza in Canggu: Best Overall

Our number one for pizza in Canggu, and not a close call. Luigis has been in Canggu for almost ten years, in a building made from shipping containers, and it still feels like the place that was here before everything else arrived. No dress code, no white tablecloths, just a room full of people who keep coming back. We are among them.

The pizza is the reason. The dough rises naturally for 24 hours and goes into Acunto ovens brought over from Naples. Pizzaiolo Marcos Bonotto was recently given a 1 Slice award by Gambero Rosso International, which is a nice way of confirming what the regulars already knew.

The venue has just been refreshed, with checkered tiles, booth seating and a street-side pizzeria, but the menu still leans happily Italian-American. Start with the Queen Marg so you know what the base tastes like on its own. Then order the Franks n Fries, which is exactly what it sounds like, and stop asking questions. If you want something newer, the roast pork belly with lemon potatoes and rosemary is a strong argument.

There is a garden at the back with a bocce court and cold beer, which is where afternoons tend to disappear. With a group, it is the most fun setting for pizza in Canggu. Wednesday is Pasta & Vino with fresh in-house pasta, and Fridays run late with DJs.

What to Order: Queen Marg, Franks n Fries.
Address: Jl. Batu Mejan No.2, Canggu. Open daily from 4pm until late.

La Baracca, Canggu: Best Homestyle

La Baracca means “the shack”, and the restaurant takes that seriously. It was started by Italian friends who grew up together, and the rooms are fitted out with reclaimed wood and old furniture. Walking in feels less like going to a restaurant and more like turning up at an Italian friend’s house for dinner.

The cooking follows the same idea. This is home-style pizza, kept authentic and priced so you don’t have to think too hard about ordering a second. The burrata pizza is the one people talk about, and we understood why.

What surprised us most was the vegan menu. A lot of places serving pizza in Canggu offer a margherita without the cheese and call it a vegan option. La Baracca has a full plant-based menu and gluten-free options, so nobody at the table gets the short straw. The eco side goes beyond the furniture, with beach clean-ups among the things they get involved in.

Leave room for the tiramisu, which comes in a moka pot. It is the best way to finish a night of pizza in Canggu.

What to Order: the burrata pizza, then the tiramisu.
Address: Jl. Tanah Barak No.51, Canggu. La Baracca also has branches in Seminyak, Uluwatu and Ubud.

Pizza Fabbrica, Canggu: Best Thin Crust

Yes, there is a second Luigi on this list. Pizza Fabbrica belongs to a Luigi from Puglia, whose family also started Pronto Pizza in Kuta, and the recipe comes straight from Italy with him.

Of all the pizza in Canggu we tried, this was the lightest. The base is thin and crispy, with a bit of char from the wood-fired oven, and Fabbrica uses its own maturation method for the dough, which they say makes it lighter and easier to digest. We can confirm it is very easy to finish one and start looking at the menu again.

The toppings stay authentic: Italian tomato sauce and imported Italian cheese. The Capricciosa is a reliable place to start. The signature Fabbrica pizza, with burrata and Prosciutto di Parma, is the one to share if you are only getting one. If you like your pizza thin and crispy, this is the one.

What to Order: the Fabbrica, plus a Capricciosa if there are two of you.
Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan No.10, Canggu, with a second location in Umalas. Gluten-free pasta is available.

Milk & Madu, Canggu: Crowd Favourite

Ask around where people go for pizza in Canggu and Milk & Madu comes up more than any other name. It started in 2014 as a brunch spot, but the pizza has become a reason to visit in its own right.

The style is a mix. The crust is Neapolitan, the pizzas are cooked on lava stone, and the toppings have an Australian streak: fresh, with more vegetables on top than you might expect from a pizza menu. You can order a personal pizza, or a family size if you are sharing, which suits the room. It is a family place, and there are always kids around in the daytime.

The pizza deal is the main event. Every Tuesday and Sunday from 4pm until 10pm, pizzas are two for one. If you are there around sunset, the 2-for-1 cocktails make the timing even better.

Go: Tuesday or Sunday after 4pm, with a group, and get the family size. On those nights, it is the best-value pizza in Canggu.
Good to know: Two Canggu locations, in Berawa and on Beach Road. The 2-for-1 pizza deal runs every Tuesday and Sunday, 4pm to 10pm.

Barō, Pererenan: Best Sourdough

Barō opened in 2021 as a small sourdough bakery in Pererenan, and everything there still starts with the dough. The bakery opens in the morning for bread, pastries and coffee, and brunch runs from 10am to 4pm, with pizza served from 11am. Evenings and the back dining room are now kept for private dinners and special celebrations, so plan your pizza for the daytime.

The focus is the grains. Barō bakes with heritage and ancient grains, and the pizza dough is slow-fermented sourdough, so the crust has more flavour and chew than most. It is the part of the pizza we kept talking about afterwards.

The toppings are where they get creative. The 10-inch pizzas run from stracciatella with confit garlic and lemon zest to braised oxtail with jalapeño and coriander. The one we would point you to is Jono’s Pepperoni with red cheddar, bocconcini and hot juruh, a Balinese palm sugar syrup.

Come back in the morning for a loaf. The ancient grain sourdough is the obvious choice.

Order: Jono’s Pepperoni, and a loaf to take home.

Good to know: Jl. Pantai Pererenan No.162, Pererenan. The bakery opens 7.30am to 4.30pm, brunch runs 10am to 4pm, and pizza is served 11am to 4pm. Evenings are for private events only. Pizzas start at Rp155,000

Anita's, Canggu: Best Indo-Italian

Anita’s was the brainchild of Christian, an Italian, and his wife Anita, who brings the Javanese side. They started with two dishes and five tables. Now it’s a restaurant, with four guest rooms, a pool and a garden that feels like the grounds of an old family house. Christian, a former chef, was in a wheelchair and taught Anita to cook all his favourite dishes, including hand-made pasta and a range of signature dishes.

She added her mother’s favourites, and it was a marriage made in culinary heaven. Christian has unfortunately passed away, but his spirit lives on in every recipe. Anita makes everything from scratch, including the dough, tomato sauce, sourdough, cold cuts and jam. The pizza menu reflects the two of them. There is the original Italian version, like the wood-fired pizza with house-made mortadella and burrata. Then there are pizzas with Javanese-inspired toppings, which is where Anita’s becomes a place you can’t find anywhere else.

Order one of each and compare. While you are at it, add the Mie Terong Balado, a Javanese-style eggplant pasta. The pool is open to diners with a minimum spend, so lunch can easily turn into the afternoon.

What to Order: the mortadella and burrata pizza, then a Javanese one.
Address: Jl. Pura Wates No.48, Babakan, Canggu. Open daily, 11am to 11pm.

The Final Slice: Tips for Pizza in Canggu

If you only have one night for pizza in Canggu, go to Luigi’s. If you have a week, work down the list. A few things will make that easier.

Check the day first. Pizza in Canggu runs on a weekly rhythm. Milk & Madu’s 2-for-1 deal is on Tuesday and Sunday from 4pm. Luigi’s does Pasta & Vino on Wednesday and brings in DJs on Friday. Barō’s restaurant is closed on Mondays, so save it for another night.

Lunch or dinner? Most pizza in Canggu is an evening plan, and this list is no different. Luigi’s opens at 4pm and Barō’s restaurant at 5.30pm. For lunch, Anita’s opens at 11am and has the pool, and Milk & Madu is open from early morning, so it works for a long lunch before the pizza deal starts.

Pair them up by area. Luigi’s and Pizza Fabbrica are both on Jl. Batu Mejan, so they are easy to compare on back-to-back nights. Barō is in Pererenan and Anita’s is further inland in Babakan, so plan those as their own trips.

Book ahead on busy nights. Friday nights at Luigi’s are some of the busiest for pizza in Canggu, so book a table if you are coming with a group. For the 2-for-1 nights at Milk & Madu, arriving early is the easiest way to get a good table. Everywhere else, a quick WhatsApp message to the venue is worth it on weekends.

Getting around. Canggu traffic slows down around sunset. A scooter or a ride-hailing app is the easiest way to get between the best spots for pizza in Canggu, so leave a little extra time if you are heading out for golden hour.

Stop by Barō on the way to the beach, Milk & Madu on a Tuesday, and Anita’s when you have an afternoon to spare. Save this list for your next night of pizza in Canggu, and send it to whoever is always asking “where should we eat?”
