Looking for the best cafés in Seminyak? Look no further. From strong, no-nonsense espresso at Revolver to laid-back brunch spots like Milk & Madu and design-led favourites like Coffee Cartel, Seminyak has quietly become one of Bali’s top destinations for coffee and café culture.
When it comes to cool cafés, Seminyak is where it began. Generations of coffee lovers have fallen in love with Indonesian beans; a cup of Java was slang for coffee as far back as the 1940s, and Bali has taken that legacy and made it its own. Today, Seminyak has perfected the art of making and serving coffee in some of the most interesting spaces on the island.
From in-house roasts and specialty blends to cafés that double as co-working spots and popular brunch spots, there’s no shortage of places to try. It’s not just digital nomads who seek them out; it’s anyone looking for excellent coffee, good food, and a reason to stay a little longer. Take note, some of these cafes also serve up some of Seminyak’s best cocktails!
These are the cafés we keep coming back to, and the ones we recommend without hesitation.

Revolver, Seminyak’s OG
Whats Is It
A dark, tucked-away coffee den that quietly became one of Bali’s most influential cafés.
Why We Love It
Fair to say things changed when an Aussie surfer opened Revolver down a narrow laneway off Jalan Kayu Aya. You don’t stumble across it, you hear about it, then go looking. The coffee is still the main draw, strong, consistent, and easily on par with what you’d expect in Sydney or Milan. Over time, it’s grown into something bigger. The original space now includes a backyard, the menu runs from breakfast through to dinner, and there’s a solid cocktail offering as well. It’s no longer just a coffee stop; it’s a place people return to throughout the day.
Location
Jalan Kayu Aya, Seminyak
Also now in Canggu, Petitenget and the Revolver HQ located in Umulas.
Pison, Sydney Meets Bali
Whats Is It
A cosy, all-day café with serious coffee credentials and a loyal following.
Why We Love It
Tucked along Jalan Petitenget, Pison feels like a bit of a find. The space is warm and enclosed, with exposed brick, bookshelves, and air-conditioned comfort, making it an easy place to settle into. Coffee is front and centre, but the food holds its own. Breakfast can be as simple as a fresh baguette with butter and jam, or as substantial as Turkish eggs or corn fritters. Later in the day, dishes like pork belly fried rice keep things interesting. It shifts easily into a low-lit dinner spot, with cocktails, including a strong espresso martini, carrying things into the evening.

Coffee Cartel, Pretty in Pink
Whats Is It
A bold, design-led café that balances style with substance.
Why We Love It
It’s hard not to notice Coffee Cartel. Black and white tiled floors, pink accents, and a constant buzz from early morning to late afternoon. They roast their own beans at their Legian site, and the coffee here is taken seriously. The menu reflects a modern Australian cafe-style with a focus on fresh ingredients, from burgers to Bali bowls, home-style cakes, smoothies, and generous breakfast plates. The sausage and egg muffin is a favourite, though the healthier options are just as strong. It’s a daytime-only spot, focused on doing café culture properly close to vibrant Petitenget Street.

La Naya, Japanese Artisan Café
Whats Is It
A Japanese-inspired bakery café with a creative edge.
Why We Love It
Lanaya brings something different to Seminyak’s café scene. Set on a quieter backstreet off Jalan Petitenget, it’s run by a family with roots in Jakarta’s Japanese dining scene. Coffee is excellent, but the bakery is what really stands out—pillowy soft bread, delicate pastries, matcha-led drinks, and a rotating selection that keeps things interesting. Settle into a smashed Nutella croissant, or the island’s first tiramisu danish, grab some excellent nigiri for lunch, or the classic egg sandwich served on fluffy milk bread or for something more substantial, try the Japanese curry with beef and mozzarella, it’s something else. Wash it down with an excellent coffee or one of the island’s best matcha selections. Being part of the Yawara group adds a subtle Japanese influence across the menu. It’s relaxed, a little playful, and a good option when you want something beyond the usual café lineup, and pick up some Japanese bakes on your way out.

Machinery, Double Six Energy
What Is It
A street-facing café with a strong identity and easygoing feel.
Why We Love It
You’ll spot Machinery straight away, black and yellow, open, and always busy. Right on Double Six Road, it taps into that constant movement of people heading between shops, the beach, and cafés. Menu highlights include: Chilli Scrambled (with homemade chilli oil), Rosti Bacon, Chicken Avo Wrap, Pork Belly Sambal Matah, and protein shakes. The coffee is reliable, which is what matters most, and it’s an easy place to stop, whether you’re on the move or staying a while. Simple, consistent, and well placed, Machinery also has cafes in Pereranan and Sanur.

Expat Roasters, The Coffee Roaster
Whats Is It
A specialty coffee spot focused on quality, sourcing, and technique.
Why We Love It
If you’re particular about your coffee, this is one to know. Expat Roasters is run by award-winning barista, Shae Macnamara, and his passion for excellence shows in every cup. The space leans industrial and minimal, with a strong focus on coffee and varieties from single-origin to in-house blends. Expect well-balanced espresso, carefully brewed filter options, and baristas who are happy to talk you through it. Expat Roasters has a small menu that includes one of the best toasties on the island; it’s seriously good. It’s less about long brunches and more about getting the coffee right. Bring your laptop and find a quiet space to work, and don’t forget to stock up on their blends to take home.

Milk & Madu, All-Day Favourite
Whats Is It
A lively, all-day café that works for everything from breakfast to casual dinners.
Why We Love It
Milk & Madu opened their vibrant cafe in Seminyak last year and brought us more of what we’ve come to love. There is coffee, and it’s excellent, but Milk & Madu offers so much more, including an in-house bakery with fresh cakes, pies and sausage rolls that are a big draw with the Aussies. They still do one of the island’s best Avo Toast and now offer lunch and dinner selections, a well-stocked bar and some very good pizzas. The cafe has an easygoing energy that works for everyone – from families to couples and solo diners. It’s always busy, but never overwhelming. Coffee is solid, but it’s the consistency across the whole menu that stands out. Smoothie bowls, big breakfasts, pizzas, cocktail hours and comfort dinners, with plenty of space for groups. It’s also one of the more social cafés in Seminyak, good for meeting friends or settling in for a longer stay.

Kim Soo, Café Meets Concept Store
Whats Is It
A beautifully curated café and homewares store in one.
Why We Love It
Kim Soo is one of those places you come for coffee and end up staying longer than planned. The coffee is strong and reliable, and the food has a homemade feel that’s hard to replicate. Breakfast is pretty, especially in the garden setting overlooking the ornamental pool, but the butter chicken with house-made roti is a standout and worth ordering at any time of day. The cakes follow family recipes, simple, comforting, and done properly. Step next door and you’re in a homewares space that feels like a carefully put-together collection rather than a shop. From ceramics to small gifts and pieces you didn’t know you needed, it’s easy to lose time here.

Kynd Community, Plant-Based Favourite
Whats Is It
A bright, plant-based café known for its colourful plates.
Why We Love It
Kynd has built a strong following, and it’s easy to see why. The creative inspiration comes from partners Lauren and Corryn who wanted to share their own brand of Kyndness and it’s an inspiration. The space is instantly recognisable, and the menu leans fully plant-based without feeling limiting. Smoothie bowls, vegan brunch dishes (the plant-based eggs benedict is a must), delicious bakes and good coffee all come together in a way that feels accessible rather than niche. It’s popular, so expect a crowd, but it runs smoothly.

Biku, Our Cuppa Tea
Whats Is It
A heritage-style tea lounge set in a traditional teak joglo.
Why We Love It
Biku moves at a different pace. Set in a beautifully restored wooden joglo, it’s known for its tea selection, but coffee drinkers are well looked after too. Afternoon tea is the highlight, but it works just as well for a quiet coffee. With a popular menu that offers excellent Indonesian food and warming curries, Biku is a great choice at any time of the day from breakfrast through to dinner. It’s one of the few places in Seminyak that still feels calm, even when it’s busy.
