Padang Bai is often seen as a ferry port, but it’s also one of East Bali’s most rewarding spots for snorkelling. Just offshore, you’ll find calm, clear water and vibrant coral gardens that sit within a protected eco-reef. It’s an easy, affordable way to explore Bali’s marine life, whether you’re a complete beginner or have years of snorkelling experience.
Local operators line the beachfront, and you won’t be in town long before someone offers a boat trip. These small day boats will take you straight to the best sites, including the popular Blue Lagoon and the quieter reef near White Sand Beach. Expect schools of colourful fish, gentle currents, and a few underwater surprises along the way.
If you prefer to go solo, you can walk to the far end of the bay and snorkel straight from the beach. Gear is available to rent everywhere, and tours can be booked in advance if you prefer something organised.
Location: Padang Bai, East Bali
Tip: Go early in the morning for the calmest conditions and the clearest visibility.
