MOSTO – Not Wine Vol. 2 Launch
Mosto’s Not Wine cocktails are back for a second round. The idea started with Beverage Director Denny Bakiev: cocktails that behave like wine, with similar strength, body and acidity, flavoured with local ingredients and poured into a wine glass with very little on top. The first menu worked its way through white, orange, rosé and red. Vol. 2 gets more specific, taking particular grape varieties and traditional serves as the starting point and then pulling them about a bit.
Orange wine becomes a guava amaretto sour. Vin Santo, the Italian wine usually poured after dinner, turns into a Negroni twist made with Japanese plum wine and milk oolong, served from a Coravin. Vinho Verde from Portugal is the reference for a tequila drink with baked apple and fig leaf. And frosé gets taken apart and rebuilt with cloudy sake, gin, lychee and raspberry.
The drinks are designed to go with the food at Mosto rather than compete with it, which puts the place somewhere between a cocktail bar and a wine bar without being too precious about either. The new menu launches on Thursday 19 November, with snacks from Chef Lorenzo De Petris and DJ Julian on the decks.
